| RSSFeedMe.net Goals and Objectives | | | |
| Written by maxchanwl | | Wednesday, 30 January 2008 | Well I created this site so that I can create RSS buttons that people can use on their sites - which is pretty unique that it's one of a kind and you'll know that it came from this site. However, I do have plans to monetize this site later so that it will add into my online income.
Well I would create and post RSS buttons in the later stage but I wouldn't do it now as I find it hard to find the time to actually start my Photoshop and be creative by creating RSS buttons.
One thing for sure, I have plans to add this site to PayPerPost and see how it performs. I love earning through PayPerPost as it's one of the best paid blogging program.
There's a few things that I need to do before the next PR update:
1. Complete my 20 posts
2. Add backlinks from web directories
3. Get good PR
4. Get Alexa ranking of 1 million of lower
:D Wish me luck! | | RSS Feeds in Second Life?
| Written by maxchanwl | | Sunday, 27 January 2008 | Second Life is a virtual reality game which gives you the flexibility of 'living a second' life. There are many limitations in our real world and a virtual world will bridge the gap between what is real and what is not. Imagine:
1. Becoming a hero in a game where you wield a huge sword and save the world
2. A tycoon in the virtual world where you are filthy rich in every aspects
3. Have dates virtually and in marry the same woman in reality
This is what Second Life can offer. Something that you can't do in the real world but is possible in the virtual world. Here are some dudes in Second Life watching a RSS Feed virtually. What a life!
| | What is RSS - really? Part II | | | |
| Written by maxchanwl | | Tuesday, 22 January 2008 | Well I want to make a second part of what is RSS - really simple syndication. This time I found a video from YouTube explaining great facts on the Internet as well as RSS.
It's a video clip where a teacher like guy uses a white board with paper cuttings explaining in simple term what is RSS and why RSS is needed.
It looks like a video for noobies - oh well there's always a first time and I'm a noob :D...
Enjoy it!
| | A Little Rant About Success and Attitude | | | |
| Written by maxchanwl | | Saturday, 19 January 2008 | I just felt that I should talk a little about success and the attitude that will bring you success. You see, I'm a full-time blogger and I am not really working. I've been blogging for more than half a year now and I make twice as much now compared to my last pay. I've been trying to tell my friends that it's great blogging and that you can make money out of it.
There are some people who I have met and tried to pass down my blogging secrets. At that point they seemed excited and was willing to give it a try. To my dismay, they stopped a few days later! I know because when I visit their blog - there weren't any updates.
It's a rule of thumb that your new blog has at least 20 posts before you start monetizing it. My friends couldn't even reach their second post.
Well like John Chow said, pick a topic that you like and you'll need to update your blog every now and then to maintain your visitors from visiting your site the next day.
It's all about attitude and your attitude will bring you success. Laziness will destroy you and pretending NOT to know is a SIN!
It's just a little rant - hope no offence taken. Cheers and have a great day ahead! | | Netvibes - good RSS reader
| Written by maxchanwl | | Wednesday, 16 January 2008 | Ok now that both you and I are aware of RSS, functions and simple terminology, I guess that it's appropriate to explain what Netvibes can do. I'm using this RSS reader for months now and I think it's pretty convenient. Take a look at the screenshot below:
As you can see, there are small little windows scattered on the screen. These tiny windows is where you keep track of the RSS links which you put on your Netvibes. Each time the owner updates the blog, you will get the title of the blog post instantly.
I usually rely on Netvibes to keep track of multiple websites which I visit daily. I got fed-up using bookmarking as I kept loosing my links on my Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Give Netvibes a try! | | RSS Explained - Really Simple Syndication
| Written by maxchanwl | | Monday, 14 January 2008 | I'm learning as well. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. I guess that if you are new to RSS, just like me, this video is a really good tutorial in getting you started. It shows you what RSS is for and how to benefit from using RSS.
I guess that it will definitely save you loads of time without actually visiting the actual site. Simply see the title of the latest post on your RSS and see whether it is interesting or not. If not, you don't visit the site. If it is, simply click on the link and you'll be redirected to the site.
It's a blessing as well as a curse. RSS saves you time but web owners might loose the crucial traffic because of RSS usage. What do you think?
| | Written by maxchanwl | | Thursday, 10 January 2008 | Well my goal for this site would be at least 8000 RSS subscribers. It's pretty far fetch especially when this site is just starting to be developed. In fact, like the title says, you can actually monetize your RSS feed through FeedBurner.
FeedBurner.com is a RSS service provider which you can use on your sites by appending your FeedBurner RSS URL. You can use their system to keep track of your visitors and their demographics. Through these information, you'll know what your readers like to read and what they don't like to read.
In fact, if you have a substantial number of RSS subscribers to your site, you can actually monetize it using FeedBurner. FeedBurner would append some advertisement to your RSS feed and you'll earn money through it.
I don't have any offers yet, but I know that you can make some money out of it.
Want to make some extra money, try monetizing your feeds using FeedBurner!
| | What Is RSS? According to the public | | | |
| Written by maxchanwl | | Monday, 07 January 2008 | So do you really know what is RSS? According to the general public - it's a mixed reaction. Well the survey is done in a quite town in Sutton, Surrey, England. According to the video, it's a famous spot for market research firms to collect data.
Personally I don't really know what RSS stands for but I do know what RSS is for. Like I say, I didn't do any in depth research on the subject :)
Well, why don't you conduct your own survey by asking your friends what is RSS?
| | Written by maxchanwl | | Saturday, 05 January 2008 | Well since this site focuses on RSS Feeds or RSS Readers, I might as well explain in the most basic term on what RSS actually is. Now I didn't do any in depth research on RSS history, but I'll just explain it in my own words.
Previously bookmarking is pretty common while surfing or browsing. Whenever you like a site, you simply bookmark it or CTRL-D. But this method is not really good in bookmarking as when you reformat your PC or use another PC, you simply looses all your bookmarks.
RSS Readers on the other hand, can remember what you have saved in the reader. For example, there are lots of services out there that you can use as your reader. These are
1. Bloglines
2. FireFox
3. Netvibes
Whenever you save a RSS on one of these readers, it stays in the system. I use Netvibes for example and I like it very much. Whenever I log in to my account, all the RSS feeds will pop out.
It's really a great tool to look at the site's latest updates without really visiting it. It saves you time and it's easy to use.
So there you go! | | Written by maxchanwl | | Wednesday, 02 January 2008 | Of course, this site focuses on RSS Feeds and I found out some tasty secret from YouTube on how to get your RSS Feed on YouTube to get the best materials. For example if you want specific materials or to keep track of specific materials from YouTube, just add a URL like the one shown in the video.
It's great to look at the things that you want to view. For example, I like IT, latest gadgets and games - I bet that I could use the RSS Reader to help me search for these materials when I needed it the most as content for my IT site.
Hopefully this is helpful to you. This video is 2 and 1/2 minutes. Not sure you will enjoy it as the voice is pretty monotonous.
