Several Japanese tech giants are bonding together today in a quest to make 40-inch and bigger OLED panels for televisions. Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sharp and others will coorperate under a joint development project initiated by the Japanese officials.
All of this is of course aimed to help the Japanese companies lift up the competition with South Korea's chaebols, particularly Samsung and LG, as the industry conglomerates maneuver for an advantage over the next, future-generation flat panel technology to be available in everyone's living room.
